After years as a Childbirth Educator it still amazes me that women, and their partners, have total confidence in their body’s ability to conceive, every confidence in their body’s ability to grow a baby (which is a mind blowing feat if you stop and think about it) yet no confidence in their body’s ability to deliver a baby. Don’t they think that it would be a massive design fault if their body didn’t know how to get the baby out after 9 months of coordinated responses to grow a baby?

Yet at each antenatal class (I prefer the term Prenatal, no-one should be Anti-natal) women and their partners express such concern about labour and hand over all the decision making to their doctor. I really believe a little knowledge goes a long way and if parents-to-be could be more “Birth Savvy
